A GEORGE III GILTWOOD AND INLAID SATINWOOD SIDE TABLE

An important late 18th century demi-lune marquetry inlaid satinwood and carved giltwood side table, the harewood cross-banded top with a boxwood fanned lunette decorated with a band of inlaid flower heads, the main ground variously inlaid with exotic woods with trailing swags of ribbon tied narcissi, the wide outer border decorated with an alternating pattern of oak leaves and acorns, the giltwood base with a carved frieze decorated with a lambs tongue border and fluted frieze with pearled borders centred by a later scrolled foliate apron, the legs headed by flower head carved blocks above tapering ring turned baluster legs richly carved with fluting and clasped foliage terminating in small ovoid feet.

Note: The top is of an outstanding colour and patination. The scrolled foliate apron pendant is of a later date.
