The table retains four original goncalo alves cross banded extending leaves. Gillows developed their first 'Imperial dining table' in 1804. It's special features are an internal extending mechanism of the supporting rails and removable legs attached to the base by means of high quality brass threads. A design drawing by Gillows for the first 'imperial dining table' is preserved in the Westminster Archive Centre.
