19th Century Furniture
At the start of the 19th century England arguably came to the forefront of fashionable design led by the tastes and example set by George IV, the Prince Regent. His influence in promoting the classical taste saw the rise of the Regency style and the promotion of the great furniture designers of the time. George Smith, Morrel and Seddon and Gillows of Lancaster and London lead the fashion for clean lines, inlaid woods and ormolu mounts. Ronald Phillips Ltd has held and continues to sell a range of antique furniture from the 19th century.
